AWS has announced several new services and updates to its offerings, including the general availability of AWS Glue 6.0, which delivers 30% lower pricing than previous versions and full support for Apache Iceberg v3 features.[73] The company has also launched support for Amazon Lightsail, a fully serverless managed Spark service, in the AWS Marketplace, allowing customers to easily deploy eligible AWS Marketplace AMIs on Amazon Lightsail in just a few clicks.[135] Additionally, AWS Lambda MicroVMs is now available in 5 additional AWS regions, providing VM-level isolation, near-instant launch and resume speeds, and state preservation for executing user or AI-generated code.[137] The company has also introduced AWS IAM identity federation to external services in the AWS European Sovereign Cloud Region, enabling secure authentication with third-party cloud providers, SaaS providers, and self-hosted applications.[145] Amazon EC2 R8i and R8i-flex instances are now available in the Canada West (Calgary) region, delivering up to 15% better price-performance and 2.5x more memory bandwidth compared to previous generation Intel-based instances.[160] Amazon Redshift adds rg.large and rg.12xlarge instance sizes in AWS GovCloud (US) Regions, providing better performance and lower prices for running data warehouse and data lake workloads.[176] AWS GovCloud (US) now offers Claude Opus 5, the most advanced Opus model yet, compatible with zero data retention (ZDR), bringing a step-change in coding and long-running agents for teams building at the highest level.[177] Amazon Quick's agentic AI capabilities are now available in AWS GovCloud (US-West), bringing an agentic AI teammate to government and regulated-industry teams within an isolated, FedRAMP Class D authorized environment.[189]
