The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has proposed expanding Medicare coverage for transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) procedures, which could help Edwards Lifesciences gain market share from Medtronic and Boston Scientific.[1206557] Under the proposed change, Medicare would cover beneficiaries with asymptomatic severe aortic valve stenosis who are enrolled in a CMS-approved study.[1213398] The expanded coverage could lead to more patients undergoing TAVR procedures, which is expected to benefit Edwards Lifesciences and other manufacturers of the devices.[1206557]
